Autism Awareness

This link is to a youtube video of a girl named Carly who has autism. This is by far one of the most amazing stories I have ever seen. I think it would be very useful to future educators because at some point in our careers we are going to have to deal with some sort of inclusive setting with individuals with disabilities. It may not be to the exent of Carly's but it is definitely a break through to understand things just a little more. I hope some will take the time to view the video because it's truly a heart warming story and helps us to better understand what people with disabilities go through, even if you aren't an Adapted minor.

  1. This is a great find Emily, it truly is a profound and inspirational video. Having a close member of my family who suffers form autism this is a real eye opener into the struggle and mental turmoil which they may face every day and we are simply unaware of it. This video also highlights how important technology is in helping people with disabilities, to aid communication. I have also learned from my Adapted class how children with sever autism are now using ipads to help develop there communication skills.
